LEARN cordially invites you to its end-of-Project Conference, Managing the Data Deluge: roles and responsibilities for your institution

The use and sharing of research data has the potential fundamentally to change the way research is undertaken and shared. Pervasive networks mean that researchers are able to collaborate and share not only their publications, but also the research data, which underpins them. The LEARN Conference is designed to encourage all stakeholders – researchers, research funders, publishers, research organisations and senior decision makers – to explore what their roles and responsibilities are in this fast-changing environment. The EU-funded LEARN project has produced a model Research Data Management policy, along with guidance, for implementation at institutional level. An Executive Briefing, aimed at senior decision makers in six languages, gives clear signals on how research organisations can deal with the data deluge. A self-assessment survey allows institutions to measure their level of preparation for research data management activity. Finally, a Toolkit of 23 Best Practice Case Studies illustrates issues in the areas of policy and leadership; advocacy; subject-based approaches; open data; research data infrastructure; costs; roles, responsibilities and skills; tool development.

The conference will be split into two sessions. The morning session will be devoted to formal presentations, whilst the afternoon slot will have breakout groups which will examine the outputs of the LEARN project and how they can be taken up by stakeholders.

Logistic details are provided at http://learn-rdm.eu . If you want to understand what your role is in the research data landscape, this is a conference not to be missed.
