I am a post-doctoral physicist working in the Department of Radiology, with a background in programming and a particular interest in medical image analysis and software design. I am currently involved in setting up and maintenance of processes for data storage, sharing and archiving for the department - with particular emphasis on medical research image data.
 

PhD Student in Archaeology, working with mapping distributions of religious artefacts in Hellenistic sites in Afghanistan and Pakistan

A native of Messina in Italy, Concetta completed her BA in Conservation of Cultural Heritage in 2007 at the University of Messina. During her university years she worked in various libraries and cultural institutions in Italy. She completed her MA in Archival and Library Science at the University of Rome ‘La Sapienza’ in 2009. In 2011 she moved to the UK where she worked as a Cataloguer for Blackwell, Baker & Taylor and YBP/EBSCO, acquiring great experience in cataloguing books and ebooks. In September 2015 she moved to Cambridge University Press where, as Senior Library Data Analyst, she uses her knowledge of cataloguing and metadata to improve the quality of the metadata supplied to customers and third parties. From 2017 she is the Cambridge University Press representative on the Metadata2020 project and from 2019 Social Media Manager for the CILIP – CIG Cataloguing and Indexing Group.

Bibliographic databases, catalogues and repositories. 

Creation and manipulation of metadata using tools like MarcEdit, Bibliofile, Classificationweb, WebDewey. 

Library platforms such as WorldCat, Alma, Primo.

After completing my undergraduate degree in psychology, I spent several years working within the NHS and the charity sector, before moving into clinical research (Department of Oncology) in 2011. During this tenure I worked as a research assistant and latterly senior data manager, working across a variety of research and clinical systems (including OpenClinica, Achiever Medical and EDGE), gaining valuable experience in data approaches to research and governance. During this time I also completed a MSc in Psychological Research Methods. My knowledge and understanding of NHS systems was furthered during a secondment to the eHospital team, which facilitated the transition of Cambridge University NHS Foundation Trust to a fully electronic medical health record system (EPIC), the first of its kind in the UK.
   
   I joined the Department of Clinical Neurosciences in 2020, bringing a wealth of experience in the collection and management of clinical data from my time in Oncology. I currently work with the clinical and laboratory teams and external stakeholders to design, create and deliver streamlined methods for the prospective collection of high quality clinical and sample data.
