Data Champions Search

As the Research Support Librarian at the Department of Engineering I am part of the Technology Libraries team providing library services for the Departments of Engineering, Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology, and Computer Science and Technology. My role includes providing training and advice on research data management and open data. I became a Data Champion in my previous role as the Library Manager at the Cambridge Conservation Initiative, supporting nature conservation researchers from the university and NGOs. I have previous experience, from research during masters degrees, working with ethnographic data in libraries and statistical analysis of palaeobiology data using R.

I have over 30 years experience of Scientific Computing. I have worked on Image analysis of Light Microscopy images, Scientific IT Support (13 years), Data-driven web applications of mathematical models and Bioinformatics Training at the Institute of Food Research (Now the Quadram Institute). I have been involved in an EU Framework Database Workshop. I strive to include good data-handling and reproducibility practices into all training materials.

Before joining the Engineering Library in 2017, I worked in a variety of roles around Cambridge, including supporting researchers with effective communication of their work. I currently support resource and training provision in areas including research skills, open access, reference management etc.
