Biography

I joined the Office of Scholarly Communication in November 2018 as Research Data Coordinator for the Research Data Management Facility. I manage the Data Champion Programme as part of my role. I have a PhD in Biological Anthropology from the University of Cambridge and was a Post-doctoral Research Associate at the McDonald Institute for Archaeological Research from 2009–2017, specialising in human evolution and Palaeolithic archaeology.

Biography

I am a Research Associate at the University of Cambridge, UK. I am also a Postdoctoral Affiliate of Trinity College, Cambridge. I am currently working on several exciting research problems concerning codon usage, optimality and, in general, knowledge discovery from large-scale genomic data. I am focusing on developing novel ML approaches, such as Neuro-Symbolic Models and Deep Neural Networks, to learn from genomic sequences. Biography

Yermek Aitenov is a PhD candidate at the Department of Genetics, University of Cambridge, studying the role of protein transcription factors in Drosophila embryonic development. He has previously worked as a bioinformatician and analysed a wide range of data including Hi-C, 4C-seq, ChIP-seq, bacterial 16S RNA, bacterial whole genome from clinical specimens, and transcriptional microarrays.
