Following a PhD and post-doctoral research in fruit fly (Drosophila) genetics, I joined the FlyBase group (https://www.pdn.cam.ac.uk/research/groups/flybase) at the University of Cambridge in 2006. FlyBase (https://flybase.org) is an online database of biological information about the model organism Drosophila melanogaster. Data are manually collated from the published literature by a team of curators and integrated with information from various external databases to produce our freely available website. In addition to managing the local FlyBase group, I am a PI on a project to develop a new metabolic pathway resource for Drosophila.
