Ali is Senior Data Scientist and public-health/transport modeller in the Public Health Modelling (PHM) group at the MRC-Epidemiology Unit, University of Cambridge. He is interested in active travel, specifically cycling research. 

Coming from a Computer Science background, with a focus on modelling in his PhD, for over a decade, he has been doing data-driven research and development. This includes Exploratory Data Analysis (EDA), Statistical Modelling (or Machine Learning), Interactive Visualization, all with a focus on collaborative, transparent and reproducible research. Dequn (Peter) Teng is a Ph.D. candidate supervised by Dr. Veronica Martinez in the Business Model Innovation Group at the Institute of Manufacturing. His current research area is on blockchain and machine learning integrated methods for supply chain management.
   
Dequn graduated from University of Liverpool (2+2 route) with a first class honours degree in Computer Science and Electronic Engineering. His past research experiences relate to blockchain and digital innovation, with peer reviewed conference paper publications on IEEE Xplore and EI. Additionally, He has ten invention patent applications under substantive review process, ranging from Blockchain and Mechanical Design Innovation. For industrial exposure, he has taken research internships at Deutsche Bank (Shanghai) for digital transformation research, and Unilever (UK) for PowerBI visualization. Moreover, he loves mathematical modelling and was awarded Meritorious Winner at the Mathematical Contest in Modeling.

I provide Bioinformatic support for a few research groups in the Cambridge Stem Cell Institute. For the most part I deal with the analysis of single cell sequencing data, storage management of such data and the deployment of data processing pipelines into HPC environments.

I’ve been working in the Department of Psychiatry for almost a decade now. I specialise in improving process and workflow and in research data management. I also work in branding, digital recruitment, website design and administration, social media management, and data architecture. I am particularly good at thinking of new and creative solutions to emerging problems. I am currently working on ways to govern and organise the many research projects within my department and in the School of Clinical Medicine, and on creating ways to share research and imaging data (MRI, PET etc) openly.
